The opportunity arose when a good friend of Dave's approached us with an authentic Konig 500 GP frame kit, along with a genuine 500cc Konig engine and AMC gearbox (with Schaffnitzer internals). It also came with authentic yokes, rearsets, belly pan and alloy radiator. The only modern part of technology was the Bob Newby belt driven clutch.

It had been inherited from his late father, whom had been collecting parts and not got round to building it.

This was a unique chance for us to build a homage to the man that brought the Konig name to the forefront of motorcycle racing.

And so the build began......
